Holder Asks Congress To Set Up Data Breach Alert System

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 1:22 PM EST) -- Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday urged Congress to create a national standard for alerting consumers whose information may be compromised in data breaches like the massive one suffered by Target Corp. that was discovered during this past holiday season.

Holder, in a video message, said the Target breach, which may have compromised the personal information of as many as 70 million people in addition to the credit and debit card information of up to 40 million customers, showed the need for new protocols.
