Fed. Circ. Nixes Apple Bid To Get Patent Case Out Of Texas

Law360, New York (February 27, 2014, 4:34 PM EST) -- A divided Federal Circuit panel on Thursday refused to transfer a patent suit against Apple Inc. out of the Eastern District of Texas, saying Apple had failed to provide enough evidence that California would be a more convenient forum.

In a 2-1 precedential decision, the appeals court denied Apple's petition for a writ of mandamus ordering the Texas court to transfer a suit filed in 2012 by Core Wireless Licensing Sarl over standard-essential wireless patents to the Northern District of California, where Apple is based.
