Contractor Gets 5 Years For $31M NASA Kickback Scheme

Law360, Los Angeles (February 28, 2014, 3:41 PM EST) -- A former employee of a Florida aerospace agency was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison for his role in a $31 million kickback scheme that defrauded NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by securing contracts reserved for minority small-business owners.

Michael Dunkel, 60, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee on a government fraud charge. In addition to the prison term, he is required to forfeit $2.96 million and pay a $12,500 fine, court records said....
