BP Can't Get Secret Docs In Deepwater Settlement Probe

Law360, Los Angeles (February 28, 2014, 10:31 PM EST) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Friday denied BP PLC’s bid for access to confidential documents that track a court-appointed investigator’s work in ferreting out alleged corruption and conflicts of interest in the claims process for damages from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier ruled that the documents BP had requested didn’t adversely affect BP, nor did the investigation by the special master in charge of managing the claims process in his rejection of the oil company’s request.
