Ballot Challenge To $198M Ore. Hotel Blocked

Law360, New York (March 4, 2014, 1:47 PM EST) -- An Oregon county judge on Monday blocked a group of hoteliers and activists’ efforts to challenge tax subsidies promised to a $197.5 million hotel project through a ballot vote, saying that the group could not force a vote to reverse a county's administrative decisions.

Judge Eric J. Bloch sided with Multnomah County's elections department, agreeing in a summary judgment order that the group could not bring the hotel's tax plan up to the voters because state laws limit voter referendums to legislative matters and the issue...
