Samsung To Pay $33M To Settle CRT Price-Fixing Claims

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 6:13 PM EDT) -- Samsung Group will pay $33 million to settle claims it was involved in a price-fixing global conspiracy along with several co-defendants, representing the largest payout of the defendants in the sprawling cathode ray tube multidistrict litigation, according to a motion to approve the deal filed in California federal court Monday.

The settlement would be substantially larger than those the direct purchasers negotiated with other manufacturers of CRTs and CRT-related products, amounting to more than twice the settlement they agreed to with co-defendant Hitachi in December 2013,...
