Insurer, US Near Settlement Of Ammo Factory Cleanup

Law360, Los Angeles (March 13, 2014, 6:24 PM EDT) -- The U.S. asked a California federal judge on Wednesday to allow it to pay about $2 million and other monetary reimbursement to settle a dispute with American International Specialty Lines Insurance Co. over pollution remediation at the facilities of a former government ammunition contractor.

The parties jointly asked the court to approve and enter a proposed consent decree in which the federal government would also reimburse the insurer for one-third of its future response costs involving Whittaker Corp.'s former manufacturing facility in Santa Clarita, Calif....
