Nintendo Owes $7M For Ripping Off Memory Chip, Jury Told

Law360, Los Angeles (March 13, 2014, 8:00 PM EDT) -- Nintendo of America Inc. owes Creative Integrative Systems Inc. $7 million for ripping off its design for read-only memory chips for years, Creative told a California federal jury on Thursday during closing arguments in the circuit design company’s patent suit against the video game behemoth.

Todd G. Vare of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, representing Creative, told the jury in Los Angeles that Nintendo had ripped off the unique “staggered” design found in U.S. Patent Number 5,241,497, filed in 1990 by the company's co-founder, James A. Komarek,...
