Amazon Escapes E-Reader Patent Infringement Allegations

Law360, Los Angeles (March 19, 2014, 4:28 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit brought against Amazon.com Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent holding company’s protection on semiconductor light-emitting technology through the sale of tablet devices, holding that the asserted claim of the patent at issue is invalid.

Massachusetts-based Lexington Luminance LLC filed suit against Amazon and Amazon Digital Services Inc. in 2012, accusing the online sales giant of infringing U.S. Patent Number 6,936,851, which covers a “semiconductor light-emitting device” and a method for manufacturing such a product.
