County Freeholders Approve Bond For American Dream Mall

Law360, New York (March 20, 2014, 7:37 PM EDT) -- The Bergen County Freeholders on Wednesday unanimously approved a public bond finance up to $800 million, sealing the deal for the $3 billion American Dream megamall slated to replace the mothballed Meadowlands Xanadu complex.

Developer Triple 5 LLC will build the complex, which was heavily supported by local unions due to its potential to create 9,000 jobs, according to the Bergen County Building and Construction Trades Council. Freeholders were assured that private investors would bear the investment risk and not the public, according to media reports....
