Pols Push Obama To Ban LGBT Bias By Gov't Contractors

Law360, New York (March 20, 2014, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Pressure on President Barack Obama to ban federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation continues to mount after nearly 200 lawmakers signed a letter asking him to sign an executive order implementing the protections.

The missive — signed by 48 Democratic senators and 149 members of the House, most of them left-leaning — said the order was necessary to protect gay, lesbian and transgender Americans while Congress works to amend the legislation, known as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
