Harrah's Jets Exempt From Use Tax, Nev. High Court Says

Law360, New York (March 20, 2014, 8:20 PM EDT) -- The Nevada Supreme Court ruled Thursday that two private jets used to chauffeur Harrah's executives and their guests to and from Las Vegas are exempt from the state's use tax, clarifying the scope of a tax loophole and entitling the company to a $4.4 million tax refund.

In a unanimous decision, the justices said the jets owned by Harrah's Operating Co. Inc. are excluded from the tax because the aircraft were purchased outside of the state and the first flights taken on them after the company...
