Hulu Faces Class Action For Auto-Renewed Subscriptions

Law360, Los Angeles (March 24, 2014, 10:31 PM EDT) -- Hulu LLC was hit with a proposed class action in California court Friday for allegedly violating the state's business code by not fully disclosing to customers that their upgraded service would automatically renew and result in recurring credit card charges.

The suit alleges that while the on-demand subscription service requires consumers using their cellphones for the upgrade to check a box that says they agree to Hulu's terms of use, the same methodology isn't used for consumers signing up for a free Hulu Plus trial on desktop computers.
