Casinos Press 7th Circ. To Revive Blagojevich RICO Suit

Law360, Chicago (March 31, 2014, 2:56 PM EDT) -- Four Illinois riverboat casinos urged the Seventh Circuit on Monday to revive their racketeering suit alleging former Gov. Rod Blagojevich accepted bribes to push through legislation that diverted some $140 million of gambling revenue to racetracks in the state, saying they have ample evidence that corruption tainted the bill's passage.

The casinos, led by Empress Casino Joliet Corp., are appealing a district court's decision granting summary judgment in the case to racetrack owner John Johnston, two of his operations, and the disgraced former governor's campaign committee....
