Shareholders Sue Qualcomm Over Antitrust Violations

Law360, New York (April 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A year after wireless technology company Broadcom Corp. initiated antitrust litigation against rival Qualcomm Inc., Qualcomm's own shareholders have now filed a proposed class action alleging that the company engaged in anti-competitive behavior in the market for certain cell phone chipsets.

In a case filed on April 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, plaintiffs claimed that Qualcomm “by its intentional deception of private standards-determining organizations has monopolized certain markets for cellular telephone technology and components.”
