VNU Ends Lengthy Antitrust Suit

Law360 (February 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Dutch media giant VNU NV, one of the world’s leading market-research companies known for its Nielsen television ratings in the United States, recently ended a long legal battle by agreeing to pay millions to settle a protracted antitrust case.

The agreement brings to a close a decade-long antitrust suit in which Chicago-based market research firm Information Resources Inc. filed a 1996 claim against business units Dun and Bradsheet, AC Nielson and IMS Health.
