Figure Skater Baiul To Pay NBC's Fees After 'Wild' Claims Axed

By Kurt Orzeck (July 14, 2014, 4:24 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Monday awarded attorneys' fees to NBCUniversal Media LLC in a dismissed lawsuit accusing the network of illegally promoting figure skating legend Oksana Baiul for a skating event in which she never appeared, calling the claims "wild."

Granting NBC's motion for yet-undetermined attorneys' fees, U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest decided the former Olympian tried to turn a mistake — her name erroneously appearing in a NBC new release — into an actionable claim.
