Deals Rumor Mill: China Network Systems, Comtech, Hootsuite

By Benjamin Horney (August 25, 2014, 5:53 PM EDT) -- A wealthy Taiwanese family is on the verge of acquiring a majority stake in the island's biggest cable television operator, China Network Systems, for about $2.4 billion including debt, according to a Monday report from Reuters. The Wei family, owners of instant noodles producer Tingyi Cayman Islands Holding Corp., would be buying majority control of CNS from private equity firm MBK Partners, the report said. According to the report, the deal is part of the Wei family's overall goal of branching out into telecoms and media....
