Music Labels Reach Deal Over New Sirius Device

Law360, New York (March 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Two major music providers have reached a precedent-setting deal with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., which had threatened to open a new front in the entertainment industry’s long-running battle to protect artists’ copyrights.

The spar began last fall, when Sirius launched a new product that allows its subscribers to save and store broadcasted songs on their hardware and mix them into personal playlists for later listening.
