Court Certifies Classes in Monsanto Pension Plan Suit

Law360, New York (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court has certified four classes in long-running litigation alleging that the pension plans for employees of agricultural giant Monsanto Corp. and two spin-off health care companies miscalculated benefits in violation of federal law.

Judge J. Phil Gilbert of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois signed off on the four separate classes late last week.

Judge Gilbert said the class certification was part of a deal reached between plaintiffs and defendants.
