Tepco Moves To Block Sailors' New $1B Fukushima Suit

Law360, New York (September 12, 2014, 4:54 PM EDT) -- Tokyo Electric Power Co. Inc. said Thursday that a group of U.S. Navy rescue personnel, who filed a $1 billion class action over their alleged exposure to nuclear radiation from the Fukushima power plant, can't amend their complaint because it wouldn't fix its inherent problems.

Tepco filed its motion to dismiss the sailors' second amended complaint about four months ago, and in an opposition to the plaintiffs' August motion for leave to amend the complaint again, the company said more amendments would be futile.
