Companies Wake Up To Nap-Time Policies

Law360, New York (June 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- When online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos.com was first started in 1999, the company's leaders were determined to deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining a happy workplace.

So, as an early policy, the company allowed employees to nap on couches in a quiet room. Recently, the company upgraded to futuristic-looking nap pods which allow users to lie down inside a partially enclosed environment while listening to music. The pods even wake up a user with a combination of lights and vibration to prevent oversleeping.
