NHL Asks To Start Disciplinary Procedures For MSG

Law360, New York (June 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Angered by an antitrust lawsuit, the National Hockey League has asked a judge to declare that it can proceed with disciplinary procedures against the owners of the New York Rangers that could result in the team being thrown out of the league.

In an answer and counterclaim filed by the NHL on Wednesday, the league denied the allegations in the suit filed by Madison Square Garden LP. It also filed a counterclaim alleging that MSG, which owns the Rangers, had breached its contract.
