Judge Rebuffs Off-The-Clock Claims Against Starbucks

Law360, New York (June 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal district judge has tossed the claims of a former Starbucks Corp. assistant manager who said the coffee giant illegally failed to pay him for off-the-clock overtime.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker granted Starbucks summary judgment in the case, ruling that plaintiff Adam Odnert had not met the burden necessary to prove his case.

“Adam Odnert has failed to raise genuine issues of fact whether Starbucks had knowledge of his off-the-clock work,” the opinion said.
