Jury Rejects Silicon Labs' Cell Phone Patent Claims

Law360 (April 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a victory for startup semiconductor company Axiom Microdevices Inc., a federal jury has unanimously rejected the patent infringement claims of a rival, but upheld one charge that Axiom had misappropriated trade secrets.

Although the plaintiff, Silicon Laboratories Inc., succeeded in proving one trade secret violation, it failed to convince the jury that a former Silicon Laboratories’ employee who moved to Axiom had divulged any of the company’s technology for cell phones.
