Wi-Fi Networks, Retailers Hit With Patent Suit

Law360, New York (July 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Linksmart Wireless Technology LLC has filed suit against Wi-Fi network providers, including T-Mobile USA Inc. and AT&T Inc., and companies such as McDonald’s Corp. and Barnes & Noble Booksellers Inc. that supply wireless networks to customers, claiming the companies' services infringe a wireless network security patent.

Pasadena, Calif.-based Linksmart named 22 defendants in its complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, including Wi-Fi providers Wayport Inc., Hot Point Wireless Inc. and FreeFi Networks Inc. and well-known merchandisers and hotels,...
