Starbucks, Hershey, Others Sued Over Package Patent

Law360, New York (July 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A patent-holding company has sued eight major food, beverage and tobacco makers, including The Hershey Co., Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., and Starbucks Corp., for infringing a registered patent for a hinged-lid container.

The complaint, filed July 2 by Arimathea LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleges that the eight companies sell and advertise candy or tobacco products in the containers without having obtained permission to do so from the patent holder.
