Lawmakers Jump Into Google-Yahoo Probe

Law360, New York (July 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate antitrust panel will hold a hearing on the online-search advertising pact between Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., indicating that Congress plans to weigh in on whether the controversial deal should be approved.

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary's subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights will look at the agreement in a hearing on Tuesday.

The hearing will include testimony from Brad Smith, general counsel for Microsoft Corp., the third-largest competitor in the online-search market after Google and Yahoo.
