Judge Rebuffs Attempt To Halt Pacific Lumber Plan

Law360, New York (July 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The federal judge overseeing Pacific Lumber Co.'s bankruptcy case has rejected bondholders' attempts to put a freeze on the plan proposed by creditors Mendocino Redwood Co. and Marathon Structured Finance Fund LLP pending an appeal of his endorsement of the proposal.

Judge Richard Schmidt of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas said Tuesday that the plan will go into effect on July 25 despite the group's intention to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
