UPS Gets Initial OK On ERISA Settlement

Law360, New York (July 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A district judge has given preliminary approval to a $3 million proposed settlement that would resolve an ERISA class action by current and former linehaul drivers against UPS Ground Freight Inc.

Judge Marilyn Patel in the U.S. District Court of Northern California ruled on Monday that the proposal appeared to be fair, adequate and reasonable. She also confirmed the proposed settlement class, and backed the plaintiffs' plan for notifying eligible class members.
