Ex-Bryan Cave Atty Charged With Helping Maxim Mag Scam

Law360, New York (April 1, 2015, 5:22 PM EDT) -- New York federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged a former transactional attorney at Bryan Cave LLP with helping a client fraudulently obtain more than $8 million in bank financing to acquire Maxim magazine.

Harvey Newkirk, who worked as counsel for Bryan Cave from June 2013 to February 2014, surrendered to authorities around 8 a.m. Wednesday. He was charged in a criminal complaint with fraud, conspiracy and identity theft.
