Sony, Patent Holder Dodge Sanctions In IP Fight

Law360, Los Angeles (April 3, 2015, 5:02 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday refused to sanction either Sony Corp.'s PlayStation unit or a patent holder accusing it of infringing a system that makes 3-D real estate images, finding that neither party had filed a frivolous pleading.

U.S. District Judge Paul S. Grewal, denying sanctions motions by both Sony and Rothschild Digital Media Innovations LLC, decided that a Markman hearing and full claim construction are required before he determines whether the case is frivolous, as Sony has contended.
