Judge Certifies Slimmed Down WaMu ERISA Class

Law360, New York (July 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has partially granted a class certification bid brought by employees against Washington Mutual Inc.'s five pension plans, but has narrowed the proposed class and struck one named plaintiff from the case.

Judge Marsha J. Pechman of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Thursday agreed with lawyers acting for the WaMu pension plans that the proposed class was “overbroad” and should be limited.
