JPML Centralizes 15 Suits Over Benicar Side Effects In NJ

By Kurt Orzeck (April 7, 2015, 6:35 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has centralized 15 suits against Daiichi Sankyo Inc. and Forest Laboratories Inc. over alleged side effects of the blood pressure drug Benicar and transferred them to New Jersey federal court.

In a Friday transfer order, the JPML panel said the 15 actions share factual issues arising from allegations that taking the drug might cause serious gastrointestinal injury. The judges said 23 additional related federal actions are potential tag-along actions.
