Employee Negligence Top Cause Of Data Breaches: Report

Law360, Los Angeles (May 7, 2015, 8:55 PM EDT) -- Employee negligence is the biggest cause of data breaches at companies, topping theft, malware and phishing attacks, and security risks can't be eliminated solely with improved technology, according to a report released by BakerHostetler on Tuesday.

The BakerHostetler Data Security Incident Response Report for 2015 said that, while taking measures such as encrypting portable devices can help prevent data theft, technical security solutions don't prevent employees from being phished, failing to review logs or improperly configuring servers.
