Coffee Bean Chain Hit With Background Check Class Action

Law360, New York (May 22, 2015, 8:03 PM EDT) -- A proposed class action removed to California federal court Thursday claims cafe chain Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf didn't properly inform people applying for positions of its background check policies or get their permission to pull their consumer credit reports. 

Named plaintiff Danielle Miceli claims International Coffee & Tea LLC violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act and California law by failing to properly inform prospective employees of its background check policies or request their authorization to obtain their consumer credit reports, according to a complaint filed April 10 in Los Angeles state court.
