Judge Turns Down Heat In Calpine Dispute

Law360 (May 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal bankruptcy judge has given power producer Calpine Corp. the green light to fork over $18 million to former partner Dominion Resources Inc. in a move aimed at ending a brawl over a major Texas power plant.

On Tuesday, Judge Burton R. Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan approved the deal regarding Calpine's Clear Lake Cogeneration LP subsidiary.

California-based Calpine and Dominion were partners in a joint venture that owned Clear Lake, a plant based in Pasadena, Tex.
