ConEd Says NYC’s Negligence Led To East Harlem Blast

Law360, Los Angeles (June 5, 2015, 10:30 PM EDT) -- Consolidated Edison Company of New York Inc. sued the city of New York in state court Friday over a natural gas explosion in East Harlem that killed eight and collapsed nearby buildings, alleging the city was aware of the defects that led to the explosion but failed to act on them.

ConEd says the city’s transportation department for several years knew about road depressions on Park Avenue near the site of the explosion, including the week before the March 2014 incident, but failed to repair them....
