Fantex Primes 6th Football Player Brand's $2.7M IPO

By Tom Zanki (June 24, 2015, 3:41 PM EDT) -- Fantex Inc., a San Francisco startup that offers stock in professional athletes, said Wednesday it has opened the reservation period for a $2.68 million initial public offering for second-year Indianapolis Colts guard Jack Mewhort, marking the company's sixth IPO for professional football players.

The company is offering 268,100 shares of the Fantex Series Jack Mewhort Convertible Tracking Stock at $10 each, which will trade over the counter. Fantex "tracking stock" is designed to track the economic performance of a brand contract inked between the company and an athlete.
