Taking Bull By The Horns, RIM Files Suit

Law360, New York (June 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After already shelling out $612.5 million to protect its hand-held Blackberry device, Research in Motion Ltd. is back in court again, hoping to avert another drawn-out patent battle over wireless network technology.

Last week, RIM filed a preemptive suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, asking the court to declare that RIM does not infringe DataQuill BVI’s intellectual property and that the patent-in-suit is invalid.
