Feds Say Accused Press Release Hackers Are Flight Risk

By Jimmy Hoover (August 13, 2015, 8:20 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors have sought to block bail for five Ukrainian defendants criminally charged in a $30 million scheme to trade securities on information pilfered from the servers of press release newswires, saying the individuals pose a serious flight risk given millions of dollars in laundered profits and extensive ties abroad.

In a separate letters filed earlier this week to federal judges in New York and New Jersey, the U.S. Department of Justice said the defendants may flee the country given the "overwhelming" evidence against them and likelihood of decades in prison.
