Bus Co. Challenges 'Excessive' Anti-Idling Fines

Law360, New York (September 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A bus transportation company under fire for several million in fines from the U.S. government under the Massachusetts anti-idling statute has hit back, alleging that the law is unconstitutionally vague and that the fines are excessive under the Eighth Amendment.

Paul Revere Transportation LLC on Thursday filed a motion for summary judgment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts seeking to have the government's claims for civil fines and a permanent injunction dropped.
