Boeing, Plant Workers’ $90M ERISA Class Settlement OK'd
Law360, Washington (September 4, 2015, 12:50 PM EDT) -- A Kansas federal judge gave final approval Thursday to a $90 million settlement between Boeing Co. and a class of former employees who alleged they were stiffed on retirement benefits after the aircraft manufacturing giant sold the plant where they worked.
The settlement is fair and saves the parties the expense of costly and uncertain litigation, U.S. District Judge Monti L. Belot said in the final judgment. While there remain 17 individual plaintiffs and the unions backing them, the settlement covers the entire Harkness class – members of the different unions involved who went on to work at Spirit AeroSystems Inc....
