Slew Of Settlements Reached In MTBE Litigation

Law360 (September 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- More than 40 individual lawsuits that were part of a consolidated case alleging gasoline refiners contaminated water with the carcinogen methyl tertiary-butyl ether were dismissed Thursday after settlements were reached.

Thursday's dismissals were with prejudice and require each party to bear its own costs and attorneys' fees. The amount of the settlement in each case was not available.
