Wells Fargo Wins Wachovia, But Legal Woes Continue

Law360, New York (October 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Wells Fargo & Co. has won the battle to purchase ailing bank Wachovia Corp., but its legal wrangle with rival Citigroup Inc. continues even after the banking giant agreed to drop its efforts to block the deal.

Citigroup said late Thursday it was ending negotiations with Wells Fargo and halting its attempt to convince a New York court to stop Wells Fargo from completing its $11.7 billion bid to acquire Wachovia.

Still, Citigroup said it would continue to pursue legal claims against Wachovia and Wells Fargo...
