Discovery Slammed At $11M Trial For Unplugging TV Deal

By Jimmy Hoover (November 12, 2015, 3:47 PM EST) -- A small, Christian-oriented television distributor told a Maryland federal judge at the start of an $11 million contract breach trial Thursday that Discovery canceled the company's Internet-based broadcasting license only after Dish complained it was not enjoying similar rights.

Discovery Communications LLC has argued that it canceled plaintiff Sky Angel US LLC's agreement after learning that Sky's services depended on a connection to the public Internet rather than a private channel.

But at a bench trial before U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow, Sky suggested at opening arguments Thursday that Discovery came up with that argument to justify ending the agreement...
