NJ Meadowlands Commission Cheated Cherokee: Suit

Law360 (October 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Cherokee Investment Partners III has sued the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission for allegedly failing to uphold its end of a complex deal that also involves bankrupt environmental remediator and real estate developer EnCap Golf Holdings LLC.

Cherokee filed the lawsuit Sunday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The case hinges on a 450-acre landfill near North Arlington, N.J., and a smaller parcel of land within the landfill containing a solid waste baler. These tracts of land, known as the 1-E Landfill and 1-E Baler sites, are owned by NJMC.
