Marriott Gets $16.5M Judgment Axed In Bahamas Project Row

Law360, Miami (December 16, 2015, 10:22 PM EST) -- Marriott International Inc. escaped a multimillion-dollar verdict Wednesday when a Florida appeals court reversed a lower court's final judgment against the hotel giant, finding a construction company fell short in proving its fraud claims over work on a failed $1 billion Bahamas project.

The Third District Court of Appeal's decision reversed a Miami jury's verdict worth about $16.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages and a subsequent final judgment by the trial judge that upheld that decision.
