Chevron, Nigerians Spar Over Fatal Barge Incident

Law360, New York (October 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Attorneys representing a group of Nigerians in their case against Chevron Corp. told a San Francisco federal jury on Tuesday that the oil giant had collaborated with Nigeria's “notoriously brutal and vicious” military in a fatal standoff over jobs on a barge, while Chevron's counsel said the company had “a right and a duty” to call on police forces to protect its workers against the protesters.
