Jury Deadlocks In Tylenol Death Retrial Against J&J Unit

Law360, Los Angeles (January 26, 2016, 6:40 PM EST) -- A California federal judge declared a mistrial Tuesday after a jury deadlocked on a mother's claims that a Johnson & Johnson unit made bacteria-contaminated Children's Tylenol that purportedly killed her young son, in a case being retried after jury misconduct scrapped a win by the drugmaker.

After almost a full day of deliberations following a seven-day trial in Los Angeles, eight federal jurors sent a note to U.S. District Judge John Kronstadt on Monday afternoon stating that the group had reviewed the evidence, exhibits and arguments of counsel, but still could not come up with a unanimous decision.
